At Lottie Longman, we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment in the following ways:

OUR LOCATION

Our floral studio is based on a small farm in East Lothian where we grow most of our flowers and foliage. We are also growing 1000 eucalyptus trees for foliage and have a handful of sheep to keep the grass under control and provide fertiliser.

We work out of the old stables that has solar panels on the roof and in 2023 we installed a Tesla battery to maximise the use of these panels by storing solar power.

We are proud to have a cutting garden for flowers which can be used for our floristry workshops.

FLOWERS

We grow most of our flowers and almost all of the foliage on the farm. We work with a couple of handpicked local suppliers who have similar values to us when it comes to sustainability and environmental impact.

We use home made compost to feed the soil and the plants are fed using our home made comfrey tea fertiliser. We use regenerative farming techniques.

WASTE AND RECYCLING

We compost everything that we can on site including cardboard packaging.

We shred as much as possible with an electric shredder, which is composted or used as pathways.

We minimise our use of non recyclable plastic by encouraging our suppliers to do the same and find meaningful alternatives.

We do not use floral foam (Oasis) and use biodegradable options like moss and twigs to form a base for our designs and re-use chicken wire inn larger designs.

BUSINESS PRACTICES

We employ local staff so they have the option to walk to work.

Deliveries are made using an electric vehicle which in the summer can at least be partly charged by the solar panels.

We send electronic copies of all of our documents to clients rather than paper copies.

OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROMISES IS ONGOING AND THIS POLICY WILL BE REVIEWED ANNUALLY January 2024
